5 simple changes that work wonders

1. Drink Water!

The simplest and most ignored thing we do. Plain water is great for overall health of the body. It not only hydrates the body, it helps the organs to work better, improves digestion and of course better skin.

I know, you must have read and heard these things millions of times, and must be thinking I also know it. But knowing and doing are different. I also thought everyone keeps telling me to drink water but I never tried to do it. I have always struggled with skin and digestion issues and I still do.. And I also know all the reasons that cause those flare-ups and bloating and stuff, have been controlling (in process ;). But yes, I personally would say that water is by far one of the best, easiest and probably free way of keeping a lot of health issues at bay. And when I say water, it has to be water, not Cola, not juices, Not tea, Not Coffee. Plain and simple water. Trust me, from the  time I started drinking adequate water (by the way every body needs different quantities of water depending on weight, height, weather conditions, physical activity etc) but a safe , no doubt limit can be anywhere around 2-3 liters a day.

There are a lot of ways one can incorporate water drinking, squeeze a little bit of lemon in a glass of water or maybe a little bit of cut oranges, or cucumbers or green tea if it is tough to drink plain water. When I am working I take a water break every hour, I walk to the pantry/kitchen, fetch myself a glass of water and drink and move around and come back to my workstation. If I am at home, I keep my water bottle around me and keep sipping out of it regularly.

It has definitely brought a lot of positive change in my pooping, and skin heals faster.

All in all, Quite Doable!!

2. Be Active!

Another redundant advice but worth it. We, as human, have anyways not being designed to keep sitting at one place for hours n hours and putting pressure on our spines and hanging our necks low, and looking at just nearby objects/screens. But we are doing all of it, every single bit of it and everyday.

Our lifestyles have become so inactive, many a times, its beyond our controls. For people with desk jobs, 9-10 hours sitting on uncomfortable chairs looking at a screen is a norm.

I don't know how accurate I am, but I have read somewhere that cortisol (stress hormone) can be burned/consumed by physical activity so if it is true (which is most likely) then we are not spending off that cortisol and imagine the stress we have every single day, and it is just piling and piling. The limbs/joints are not moving, muscles are not being used... Just imagine what impact will it have!

I read a lot, watch informative videos, podcasts and double check on facts and then go ahead with the things.

3. Check the ingredients you are consuming!

THIS yes this is currently very very important. Everything that we are consuming, be it food, be it drinks, be it skin/ bodycare, every single thing that goes in our body, we should know the ingredients. It may not cause problem in 1 day but as it will pile up it will create plethora of health issues, the artificial flavors, colors, fragrances, regulators everything. Read what it is, what are its effects/ side effects, what is the daily limit of consumption, everything matters. Like, I am just giving a plain example of phenoxyethanol, a preservative used in most of skincare and bodycare products. It is known to be a hormone disruptor and is probably carcinogenic as well, when consumed in higher quantities. And what I have read around, it is said to be safe when used daily under 1%, now the catch is how much is this 1%, and if my facewash, face cream, toner, serum, body lotion, soap, shampoo, conditioner etc everything has phenoxyethanol, so what is the exact percentage I am consuming in a day, it definitely ain't 1%. And imagine I am using it everyday for the rest of my life, so how much would I be exposed to. And its just now about this one thing, there are so many of them, even in packaged food and drinks also, there are artificial flavors, acidity regulators and what not.

And, to add to this, and I think it is important also, many companies do not mention 100% of their ingredients. Sometimes, even less that 10% of the ingredients are mentioned and the rest of the list is dubious. Hormone disruptors, carcinogens, the side effects are dangerous and it piles with each day.

4. Be out often

Have you felt relaxed after watching a green mountain or a vast ocean, or flowery meadows or grasslands or streams, or just sitting in a garden or park? I don't know the scientific reason for it but yes it does feel awesome. I love sitting in parks, I love to sit in my garden when its cloudy and breezy and the moment I wake up I go outside in the sun, it instantly recharges me. Walking barefoot on grass, spending time in sun, is good for the body and the mind. Personally, walking is like therapy for me. I Whenever I am feeling distressed or low, I go for a walk. The longer I walk, the better I feel. There is just something about nature, it has the power to calm our nerves.

5. Let Loose in Life

Well, well, well!! Probably the most important and yet a difficult step. Everything is so tight, very uptight. This is something I am also still struggling with. Took me years to come out of the trauma and heart break and what not, I am still healing. And healing will not happen in one day but it does. There are various ways in which I tell myself to come out of things, and initially it did not work but gradually with each day it has. Sometimes I go for a walk, sometimes I just sit in my hibernate mode, sometimes I meet my close friends, sometimes I listen to music, sometimes I read, sometimes I just watch something random or something funny. One thing I can vouch for is watching something sad, or listening to sad songs actually intensifies the pain, it makes the pain stronger so all of you who switch to those heart break songs, bad bad idea, it will make you feel worse.

A very cliched statement that past is gone , future is unknown, blah blah. But it does make sense. What has happened, has happened, its gone, done.. We cannot change it, and future is still unknown so scathing it it is strange at times. Yes, if we can change anything, it makes sense, we can reform our past or make our future better definitely. but that's about it. We have to be easy on ourselves, we are worse with our own self, the body we live in, the mind we think with, the heart we love with, what is most important to us, we take it for granted...

Let’s bring a beautiful heart into Fashion, not faces and dresses!

Just yesterday I was reading an article and it had before and now pictures of social media influencers and I noticed one common thing in quite a few of them. Can you guess?? Their faces had changed, and the change was not natural. I mean our appearances also change as we age,  and not just age grooming, good diet, exercise, emotional health etc all these factors also have a big impact on our physical appearance. But the change I am talking about here is through artificial things, cosmetic surgery and fillers and all, like permanent changes. Now, first of all I would prefer not to comment on why they did it, what prompted them to do it and do they look good or bad now! No, not at all!! This is not a domain I would want to discuss to ponder on. It’s fine, they wanted it, and they did it. They feel good about it; it gives them confidence and satisfaction, wonderful! The whole idea of judging someone, based on their looks, clothes, even personality for that matter has to go ou...

Everyday may not be the same… and its OKAY!

Always be happy… Try to be happy… We keep hearing and many a times feeling also that is something wrong with me if I am not happy. I am also guilty of feeling and suggesting to others that “Be happy”. But the point is who doesn’t want to be happy? Who wants be sad and gloomy and crying? I definitely don’t!! I have heard this term called “fake positivity” and it has diverse meanings, faking to feel happy may also not be the thing that we need to do. Just yesterday I was having a discussion with someone who is hurting because of something and that thing has been bothering her for a long long time. And she was sad about it, she was pained about it and she was venting it out to me. I was just listening to her and listening to her. I didn’t want to give any suggestions to her to be happy, try to be happy, and try to divert your attention from that thing and blah blah blah. Why?? Because what purpose will it serve, as she is suffering because of that reason, if it is hampering her life, ...

Am I too Late?

Places to visit before you are 20, goals to achieve before you are 25, Assets to build before 30, how to retire in your 30s….. Do these taglines look familiar? Well, they do to me. All these pages and channels that are telling us to achieve something with attached times lines, 20s, 30s, and 40s. So many times I am visiting those pages or channels to find motivation and it actually ends up demotivating me, and I am like Oh No, I am too late for this. And I feel that slight regret of “Oh I wish I had started then” but yes I bounce back very soon. But this is a current phase in my life when I am comfortable with a lot of things and most of all I am comfortable “Being Me at this point in life”, I love it where I am today. Hold on, hold on it’s not about preaching where I blabber you should do this you should do that blah blah blah. I remember I was watching this video where the person was talking about investments and tips to invest and all, everything was going great and then he s...
